Local Development Plan Raises Concerns

RESIDENTS have until 26 March to have their say on a document that will adversely change the face of the local area for ever.

Consultation has started on the RCT Local Development Plan 2006-2021 and Pontyclun Community Council will be submitting its objections to planned major development in and around the areas of Cefn-yr-Hendy, Talbot Green and Mwyndy.

Areas about which we are most concerned, and which are preferred by RCT for major strategic development, are:

  • The Purolite and Staedtler sites with fields to the east (opposite the McDonald's roundabout and up to the boundary of Y Pant School).
  • Land to the Esat of Y Pant School.
  • Fields north of Cefn-yr-Hendy.
  • Fields north of Maxibrite and land occupied by Arthur Llewellyn Jenkins, Maxibrite and Mwyndy Cross Industries
  • The proposed Mwyndy development site, which is the subject of an appeal.

These sites are numbered: 116, 117, 118,119,297, 352, 353, 354, 355, 376, 450, 538.

Have your say via the public consultation, which began on 5 February  and runs until 26 March. RCT is running drop-in exhibitions for members of the public at:

2nd March - Beddau Library 10am - 1pm
7th March – Pontypridd YMCA 10am - 3pm
9th March – Aberdare Library 10am – 4pm
